Whirlpool was founded in 1911 in St. Joseph, Michigan, by brothers Louis, Frederick and Emory Upton under the name of Upton Machine Company and produces electric motor washing machines.
Whirlpool mainly produces large appliances and built-in appliances, ranging from freezers, refrigerators, washing machines, washer-dryers, dishwashers, gas ranges, cellars, microwave ovens, hoods, sinks and hobs.
In 1919, in Germany, Gottlob Bauknecht set up a small electrician workshop, and in 1933 the first plant.
A few years later, the company was founded with Nineteen Hundred Washer Co and in 1938, with the birth of The Nineteen Hundred Corporation, the first motorized washing machine was launched.
